Editorial Policy

Last updated: 25.09.2026

At BrokerCatalogue.com (“BrokerCatalogue”, “we”, “us”), our goal is simple: help you understand and compare forex brokers, prop firms and related trading platforms with clear, honest, and data-driven information.

This Editorial Policy explains how we research, review, and rank brokers, how we keep our content independent and transparent, and how we handle updates, corrections, and conflicts of interest.

This Policy should be read together with our Terms of Use, General Disclosures, Affiliate & Advertising Disclosure, and Risk Disclosure.

1. Our Mission

BrokerCatalogue is an independent information and comparison platform. We focus on:

  • Helping you compare forex brokers and related services
  • Highlighting key factors such as regulation, client fund protection, trading costs, available markets, execution, and usability
  • Explaining risks clearly so you understand what you are getting into

We do not provide investment, financial, tax, or legal advice. Our content is for education and information only.

2. What Our Content Covers

Our content includes, for example:

  • Broker and platform profiles
  • Comparison tables and rankings
  • Review summaries and scorecards
  • Guides, explainers, and glossaries
  • Data-based overviews (e.g. spreads, commissions, instruments, leverage)
  • Trading tools and calculators
  • Educational materials

For each broker or platform, we aim to give you a balanced view of:

  • Who they are
  • Key features
  • Pros
  • Cons

3. How We Research Brokers

We use a combination of:

  1. Direct platform research
    • Reading the broker’s official documentation, FAQ, fee schedules, and legal pages
    • Testing sign-up, verification, and account workflows where possible, including demo accounts
  2. Data collection
    • Gathering structured data such as:
      • Supported countries and restricted regions (for example, brokers that do not accept clients from certain jurisdictions)
      • Available instruments, including currency pairs, indices, commodities, shares, and CFDs
      • Spreads, commissions, and swap or overnight financing costs
      • Account types and minimum deposit requirements
      • Leverage limits, margin requirements, and stop-out levels
      • Execution model (such as ECN, STP, or market maker) and supported platforms (such as MT4, MT5, cTrader, and TradingView)
      • Deposit and withdrawal methods, costs, and processing times
  3. Regulatory and safety review
    • Checking declared regulatory licenses and registrations against official registers where available (for example, FCA, ASIC, CySEC, DFSA, or FSCA)
    • Reviewing client fund protections such as segregated accounts, negative balance protection, and membership of investor compensation schemes
    • Noting publicly known regulatory actions, warnings, or restrictions
  4. User feedback and reputation
    • Considering user reviews and complaints from multiple sources, including our own user reviews where available
    • Paying particular attention to withdrawal reliability and support responsiveness
    • Looking at patterns, not isolated comments
  5. Continuous updates
    • Periodically revisiting brokers to reflect major changes in spreads, fees, leverage, licenses, platforms, or client protections

We aim to make our research repeatable and transparent, not based on one person’s subjective impression.

4. Our Review and Ranking Criteria

Our exact scoring framework may evolve, but we generally look at factors like:

  • Regulation and Client Fund Safety
  • Trading Costs (spreads, commissions, and swaps)
  • Execution Quality and Platforms
  • Products and Markets (instruments and leverage)
  • User Experience and Support
  • Reputation and Track Record, including withdrawal reliability

We strive to show both pros and cons for each broker. No broker is perfect, and we do not present any as risk-free.

5. Data Sources and Limitations

Where possible, we use primary sources (the broker’s own documentation, official announcements, regulatory registers, and direct testing). We may also use reputable third-party sources for cross-checking.

However:

  • Data can become outdated quickly (spreads, fees, leverage, and availability change often).
  • Some fields rely on the broker’s own statements or third-party data we cannot independently audit.
  • In fast-moving markets, there may be a delay between a broker changing something and our update.

We do our best to keep information accurate and current, but we cannot guarantee that all data is complete, precise, or up to date at all times.

You should always verify key details, including regulatory status and the terms that apply to your country, directly with the broker before acting.

6. Sponsored Content and Partners

We work with partners and affiliates to keep BrokerCatalogue free to use. This may affect where and how certain brokers are displayed, but not what the core facts are.

Key principles:

  • Some placements may be labeled as “Sponsored”, “Partner”, or similar wording.
  • Partner brokers may receive more visibility (e.g. highlighted positions), but we still apply the same core evaluation factors.
  • We do not sell positive reviews or guaranteed top spots regardless of performance.

For more detail, see our Affiliate & Advertising Disclosure.

7. Independence and Conflicts of Interest

Because we may receive compensation from some brokers we list or review, potential conflicts can exist. To manage this, we:

  • Maintain clear separation between commercial relationships and factual content
  • Apply core review criteria consistently across both partner and non-partner brokers
  • Reserve the right to lower scores, add warnings, or remove listings if a broker becomes unsafe, misleading, or non-compliant, regardless of any partnership
  • Clearly label sponsored placements where applicable

If you ever notice something that looks inconsistent or biased, we invite you to contact us with your feedback.

8. User Reviews and Community Input

Where we allow users to leave reviews, comments, or ratings:

  • User reviews reflect the opinions of individual users, not our official position.
  • We may moderate reviews to remove content that is:
    • Clearly fake or manipulative
    • Abusive, hateful, or defamatory
    • Spam or unrelated advertising
  • We may aggregate user ratings into average scores, but we treat them as one signal among many, not the final word.

For more on what is and is not allowed in user reviews, see our Terms of Use.

9. Updates, Corrections, and Takedowns

We are committed to keeping our content as accurate and fair as possible.

9.1 Updates

We update content when:

  • Brokers change spreads, fees, leverage, features, or supported regions
  • New products, platforms, or major features are launched
  • There are significant events (for example, regulatory actions, license changes, insolvencies, or shutdowns)

We may show:

  • “Last updated” dates on key pages
  • Notes about major changes where appropriate

9.2 Corrections

If we discover an error or incomplete information, we aim to:

  • Correct or clarify the content promptly
  • Add a note if the mistake could meaningfully affect user decisions

If you spot a factual error, you can help by contacting us with:

  • The page URL
  • The specific issue
  • Evidence or sources that support the correction

9.3 Removal or Downgrading

We may partially or fully remove a listing, or downgrade its visibility, if:

  • We identify serious regulatory, fraud, or solvency concerns, or a broker is subject to an official regulator warning
  • A broker is no longer operating or has become inaccessible for most users
  • The broker engages in behavior that makes reliable evaluation impossible (for example, persistent misrepresentation or refusal to honor client withdrawals)

10. AI, Automation, and Human Oversight

We may use tools, including automation and AI, to assist with:

  • Data collection and formatting
  • Detecting obvious inconsistencies or broken links
  • Drafting or updating certain non-critical wording

However:

  • Human editors and researchers oversee the structure, key conclusions, and final judgments in reviews and rankings.
  • We do not fully automate broker scores or recommendations without human oversight.
  • When we use automated tools, we still rely on human review to maintain editorial standards and context.

11. What We Do Not Do

To avoid confusion, here is what we do not do:

  • We do not promise to list every broker or every detail about a broker.
  • We do not guarantee that any broker we list is safe, risk-free, or suitable for you.
  • We do not provide personal investment, tax, or legal advice.
  • We do not trade, hold, or manage funds on your behalf.

Our content is intended to support your own research, not replace it.

12. Prop Firms

Since September 2026 we also list prop firms. A prop firm sells a test, often called a challenge or an evaluation. If you pass, the firm gives you an account, in most cases a simulated one, and pays you a share of the profit you make on it. The fee is not refundable. Most people who buy a challenge never get a payout. Prop firms are not brokers, and in most countries no regulator licenses them.

How we pick which firms to list. We start with the firms that traders search for and that AI assistants name. A firm gets a profile once we can confirm from its own website that it is trading today, what it charges and what its rules are. A firm that has closed keeps its profile with a clear notice at the top, and it leaves every ranking and comparison.

What we check on each firm. We record the rules that decide whether you pass. That means the profit target, the daily and maximum drawdown, the minimum trading days, any time limit, and whether news trading, weekend holding and expert advisors are allowed. We record the money terms. That means the entry fee, the account sizes, the profit split, the payout schedule and any payout cap. We record who runs the firm, where it is based, which broker or platform supplies its prices, and whether trades reach a real market or stay in a simulation. Every fact carries the source we used and the date we checked it.

Payout proof. A firm’s own claim that it pays is not proof. We note published payout policies, public payout figures and dated third-party reports. We do not verify individual payouts, and we cannot promise that any firm will pay you.

How our prop firm rankings are ordered. Our prop firm rankings are sorted by AI visibility, using the quarterly AI Visibility Index published by Pipswire Intelligence, a Catalinq publication. The score measures how often, how high and how favourably AI assistants name a firm when someone asks for a prop firm in a given market. It measures visibility, not quality or safety. A high score is not a recommendation, and a low score is not a warning. We say this on every ranking page, and the firm facts on each profile come from our own checks, not from the index. Pipswire Intelligence is a Catalinq publication; sister brands (Ranxy, BrokerCatalogue, ExchangeCatalogue) are labelled wherever they appear and are never scored.

What we will not do. We do not say a prop firm is safe, and we do not say that trading with one leads to profit. We do not sell places in a ranking, and a firm cannot pay to change its score. Firms can correct facts on their profile through our claim page. A correction never changes a score.

Regulation. Prop firms sit in a grey zone that is changing fast. We log what regulators say about them on our prop firm regulation tracker, with the document and the date for each entry. We report what a regulator did. We never call a firm legal or illegal in a country unless the regulator has said so.

13. Feedback and Contact

We welcome constructive feedback from users, brokers, and industry participants.

You can contact us if you:

We review feedback regularly and may update our content or this Policy where appropriate.

14. Changes to This Editorial Policy

We may update this Editorial Policy from time to time to reflect:

  • Changes in how we research, review, or rank brokers
  • Changes in laws, regulations, or industry standards
  • Improvements to our internal processes

When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Website means you accept the updated Policy.
